My Why

When on a yoga retreat in the Autumn of 2016, I had the epiphany that I'd worked for the last 20 years in the creative branding and design industry, with no effort to look after myself. It was time to stop flying through life at the fast pace I thought necessary to be successful. I needed to evaluate what was important, take time to enjoy my young family and be fully present for healthy future.

Before this, yoga to me was something I did once a week, on my ‘working from home’ day. It was 75 minutes out in the morning to tick the ‘I'm looking after myself ‘ box, grab a quick coffee with a friend, dash into the supermarket to pick up dinner, while throwing a washing load on and taking a shower! I constantly felt the guilt that I wasn't at my desk building an empire in my early thirties. I was continually anxious about the missed calls and loaded inbox during this time. Therefore the whole emphasis of doing yoga was exactly that, it was, 'doing'. This lack of presence continued for years until  I was forced to quit my London based art world job due to health reasons.

In this time, a dear friend saw my lack of self awareness and self care and kindly invited me on a yoga retreat in the English countryside for my “birthday treat” with the most incredible teacher I have ever met - Charlie Morgan. In hindsight the “treat” was a life changing experience that made me wake up to the reality that I was a human doing not a human being. I was not being present in any area of my life. Years of self development and spiritual work has now healed this need to prove myself and affirm who I am in this world without a label and just by being me I am more than enough. This is, of course, a continued journey.

For someone who loves the sun on her shoulders and desperately wanted to live in California since I was 11 years old, I took this time to embrace the importance of English winter. I learnt that it was a time to nuture and tune within. A time to rest and prepare for new life. Winter may seem like a lifeless season but underneath things are being worked out, especially in the soil and now I know the soul too! I cherished the time of quiet. I took charge, ignored doctors and healed myself from numerous chest, lung and fungal infections in a naturopathic way through food and healing modalities. I embraced the chance to welcome a new beginning. This was a gift and now, for the past 8 years I have devoted my time and energy to the healthy and wellness industry. I have dedicated myself to provide beautiful safe and supportive spaces for people to have their transformational journey. To give themselves the gift of tuning inwards so they truly find their authentic purpose and believe that they can manifest their dreams and desires with presence in their daily lives.
